The Captivate podcast marketing suite
When logged in to your Captivate dashboard, click the Marketing tab in the left hand navigation bar. This opens up the Marketing screen.
As you can see, this is broken down into three clear sections at the top:
- Podcast Links
- Calls to Action
- Sponsor Kit
In each section, there are dedicated tools to help you grow your podcast, your listeners, and your opportunities to work with sponsors for your show.
Let's dig into each section!
Podcast Links - My Podcast Links
The My Podcast Links area is where you can optimize your Captivate-powered website if you use that feature.
By adding the links to your show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Google Podcasts, these links will appear on your Captivate website, alongside Overcast, Pocket Casts, and your RSS feed.
Additionally, if you use the Captivate player for your show, these links (with the exception of the RSS feed) will appear under the Subscribe option on your player. Sweet! 😁
Not only that, but if you use the Single Subscription Link (and why wouldn't you?!), captivate will automatically create a simple yet stylish landing page that you can drive listeners to.
This fully responsive landing page lets listeners choose their preferred app to listen on, and takes them through to that podcast app when they click on an icon.
Podcast Links - Social Links
If you run any social media accounts for your podcast, we make it easy for others to find you from your Captivate website.
In the Social Links area, you can add:
- Facebook Page URL
- Facebook Group URL
- Twitter handle
- Instagram username
- YouTube URL
Once you enter your social media links, the icons for each network will appear in the top right of your Captivate website header, making it super easy for your listeners to click through and connect with you online!
Podcast Links - My Captivate Affiliate Link
We love that you use Captivate to host your podcast, and that you tell others about us, and we want to say thank you for that!
By signing up as a Captivate Affiliate, you'll receive a recurring monthly payout for each podcaster you refer to Captivate, for the lifetime of that podcaster using Captivate. 😄
Once you've completed your Podcast Links tab settings, simply click the Update Marketing Settings at the bottom right of the page, and your affiliate link will be displayed on your Captivate website and player. You can also use it to promote Captivate online!
Calls to Action
One of the things we often get asked at Captivate is how podcasters can grow their show. From email lists to monetization, it's something we all want to do at some stage.
That's where our Calls to Action feature comes into play.
Here, you can create one or two Calls to Action (CTA) for your listeners to take, based on your growth goals:
- Sign up to a newsletter
- Download an ebook
- Support the show via Patreon
- Sign up for a webinar
- Book a consultation
- Be a guest
Really, the choices are pretty much limitless, and you determine which one(s) matter the most. Using the feature is really easy, too.
- Decide on your Call to Action
- Enter the landing page or destination URL for your offer/CTA
- Write a short, punchy blurb on why a listener should click
And that's it! Once you're happy with the CTA's you're promoting, click Update Marketing Settings, and you're done!
Now when listeners click on the Links tab on your Captivate player, they'll see the Calls to Action ready to clickthrough on.
If you're ready to monetize your podcast, there are a few options available, including donors to your show, ad revenue, and working with sponsors.
To help with that last option, we've created a simple, one-click Sponsor Kit that you can share with potential sponsors of your shows. This shares:
- Your last three episodes and their frequency
- How many average downloads your show and individual episodes get over 7 days, 28 days, 90 days, and all-time
- Your audience avatar (or who your ideal audience and listener base is made up of)
To create your sponsor kit, you simply need to fill in the Audience Avatar section, and Captivate will do the rest!
A best practice when completing your Audience Avatar is to think of the type of sponsors you're looking to work with, who their ideal audience is, and why your show will relate to both. Remember, sponsors are looking for value from you too, as well as looking to provide extra value to your show!
Once you've entered the relevant details, click Create My Sponsor Kit PDF, and it'll download to your computer, complete with your show branding, logo, and all the important info a sponsor is looking for!
Once done, make sure you click Update Marketing Settings to save the Sponsor Kit information for next time.
