Managing Podcast Episodes
Managing your podcast episodes is super easy using Captivate.
All of your episodes can be found by:
Signing in to your Captivate dashboard
Clicking Episodes from the left side menu
Episodes will appear in date order with the newest appearing first and episodes will have one of three statuses:
Draft: the episode has been saved as draft but not published or scheduled yet.
Scheduled: the episode has been scheduled for automatic future publishing.
Published: the episode has already been published.
In this section, there are a number of actions that you can take:
When you publish an episode, you are given options to share your podcast, either by:
Pasting a shareable link into your social posts.
Adding the Captivate podcast player to a website using a podcast embed code, or
Sharing a direct audio file url with your audience.
To access these options, simply click the Share icon next to each of your episodes, click Copy and paste where you need them.
To edit a podcast that is either drafted, scheduled or published simply:
Navigate to the Episodes screen
Click Edit next to the episode that you'd like to edit
From here you can change every detail of the episode as you would during publishing an episode and once you have made your changes, click either Save as Draft, Schedule Episode or Update Episode.
Deleting a podcast episode isn't something that you do too often but there will be times when you need to.
When you delete a podcast episode it will be removed from your RSS feed and from podcast directories.
_Note:_ you can delete published, scheduled and draft episodes using this process.
To delete a podcast episode
Choose the relevant show from My Shows
Click Episodes on the left side menu
Find the episode that you'd like to delete
Click the trash can icon
Confirm the deletion in the secondary pop-up
_Note:_ Wondering why you see a "dot" next to some of your episode statuses? These episodes are ones that you have marked as "exclude from feed". Shazam!
