By adding your podcast RSS feed to YouTube, you’re opening up your show to a whole new audience, and the second biggest search platform in the world. You’ll also get access to YouTube analytics about your audience.

The best part? It’s super easy to do (note: you need an existing YouTube account to use this feature).

  • Copy your RSS feed from your Captivate dashboard

  • Unhide your email address under your Podcast Settings and scroll to the bottom of the page and click Update Show Settings to save the change

  • Open YouTube Studio

  • Click the Create button at the top right

  • Click New Podcast

  • Choose Submit RSS Feed

  • Read the How it works blurb and click Next

  • Paste your RSS feed into the Enter your RSS feed box

  • Click Next

  • Click Send code to send a verification code

  • Copy the verification code from your email and paste into the verification box

  • Click Verify

  • Choose the upload option you wish to proceed with (All, Published Since, or Do Not Upload Old Episodes)

  • Choose the default setting for paid promotion

  • Click Next, then click Save

By default, all the episodes will be set to Private so you can check to ensure all the episodes have been brought over, the artwork looks good, the episodes are in order, etc.

Additionally, if you use music in your podcast, YouTube may initially flag this as using copyrighted content, and setting the show to private allows you to confirm you have the rights to use the music in question.

Once done, a little pop-up window will appear that lets you view your uploaded podcast. Click the View Podcasts link to take you to the podcast(s) screen.

You can then go in to the podcast settings and update any information you wish.

  • Title

  • Description (your podcast description on your podcast host and other apps like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc)

  • Thumbnail

  • Playlists

  • Visibility

  • Subtitles

  • End screen

Essentially, all the stuff you’d usually add or change on YouTube videos, except this is now for your podcast.

Note: we recommend keeping the same podcast description as you currently have, to avoid any possible confusion for listeners that use multiple podcast apps.

Once the podcast is fully ingested, you can then hit Publish and move it from private to visible.

And that’s it - you’ve successfully added your podcast RSS feed to YouTube, and can now access the YouTube analytics for your show in your YouTube Studio.
