How to Use Episode Idea Recording Notes
Using Captivate’s Episode Planning feature lets you plan ahead for your podcast, and turn ideas that you may have otherwise forgot int awesome episodes!
Not only that, but thanks to our nifty Recording Notes feature, we make it super easy for you (and your guests) to make each recording session as effective as possible.
At their simplest, Recording Notes are auto-generated notes created in Episode Planning, giving you a quick-look resource that you can use when recording an episode.
These can include guest information; specific topics to talk about in the episode; notes on where to find more information, and more.
Anytime you use the Episode Planning Feature to add an Episode Idea, Captivate will take the Title, Optional Summary and Host Notes that you create and create Recording Notes for that episode.
This will also include Guest Information (if using Captivate’s Guest Booking option) and any Research Links that you’ve created for this episode.
You can view the Recording Notes for any Episode Idea by clicking on the Notes icon in the Episode Planning section.
There are a few ways you can use Recording Notes, depending on your preferred workflow, as well as whether you have guests or want your podcasting team to use them.
Use them for your own reference points
When recording your episodes, you can access all of your Recording Notes at any tome from your Captivate dashboard.
Click on Episode Planning in the left hand menu
Click the Notes icon next to the relevant episode
You can then view the notes via the web to reference while recording
Additionally, you can click the Print icon to print the notes if you prefer a paper version
Use them for your guests
If your podcast is one that has guests on it, Recording Notes can also be a great reference point for your guests.
By sending your guest(s) a copy of the Recording notes ahead of time, they can come fully prepared with talking points for your recording session.

You can now attach this PDF to an email and send to your guest(s) ahead of any recording! This also lets them ask any questions they’re unsure of pre-recording, to ensure a great session when the time comes to record.
Use them for your podcasting team
If you have a team for your podcast, you can also use Recording Notes for their roles, where applicable.
If you have a research team member, for example, and you want additional information pulled from a Research Link; or you have a VA, and they manage the guest information.
Sending these team members the Recording Notes can help them better prepare a guest on your behalf, or identify what information you need from links you highlighted in the Recording Notes.
