How to Edit, Archive, or Cancel a Membership Tier

Setting up a monthly Membership with Captivate is super easy, letting your most loyal fans pay you for exclusive benefits. But what happens if you need to change or cancel a Tier?

Not to worry - we’ve got you covered, based on whether or not you have current members in the tier.

Editing a Tier with no current members

If your Tier doesn’t have any members, it’s simple to edit the Tier:

log in to Captivate
click Monetization > Settings in the left hand menu
click on the Membership Settings tab
open the Tier you want to edit
make the relevant changes to membership costs, benefits, etc
scroll down and click Save Changes

Archiving a Tier with Active Members

From time to time, you might want to offer early bird offers, or change pricing for different tiers. To do this, you’d need to archive the original tier if it has members in it. To archive a current tier that has active supporters in it, follow these steps:

log in to Captivate
click Monetization > Settings in the left hand menu
click on the Membership Settings tab
open the Tier you want to archive
scroll to the bottom of the tier and click Archive Tier
a pop-up will appear asking if you sure you want to archive the tier - click OK
click Save Changes

_Note:_ for Tiers that you archive, existing members will continue to pay the same monthly amount until they cancel, and receive the same benefits from when they originally signed up.

Cancel a Tier

To cancel a Tier altogether, follow these steps:

log in to Captivate
click Monetization > Settings in the left hand menu
click on the Membership Settings tab
open the Tier you want to cancel
scroll to the bottom of the tier and click Remove Tier
a pop-up will appear asking if you sure you want to remove the tier - click OK
click Save Changes

_Note:_ when a Tier is cancelled, any members of that tier will receive an email advising the tier is ending and their automatic payments will stop. They will then have an option to become a member of a different tier instead.
