When it comes to listening to podcasts, embeddable web players are perfect, since they offer multiple benefits:

  • You can use them on any site that supports HTML embeds (or oEmbeds, depending on the platform)

  • You can make it easy for listeners who don't feel comfortable using podcast apps

Note: to embed on Wordpress.com sites, you need to be on their Business or eCommerce plan.

Captivate makes it super easy for you to use the embed code for our web players, across multiple website platforms, as well as choosing from various options for your player.

Not only that, but by using our web players for your podcast, you'll get even more deep dive analytics about your listeners and their behaviour, including how long they listen to your episodes!

Captivate offers four types of web player:

  • Single episode player

  • Latest episode player

  • Show player

  • Playlist player

So what type of embed player should you use?

Single Episode Player

If you publish an individual blog post for each episode on your podcast website, you'll want to use the Single Episode Player. This enables you to copy the HTML code for a specific episode, and embed it on your site.

  • Log in to your Captivate dashboard

  • Click on Episodes from the menu on the left hand side of your screen

  • Find the episode you want to embed, and click on the Share icon to the right of the episode

  • From the pop-up window, copy the Embed on your website HTML code

  • On your blog post, using your platform's HTML code embed option, paste the code for your Captivate web player into the HTML box

  • Save or update your post, and then click preview to view your blog post with the Single Episode Player

Latest Episode Player

If you have an area on your site that you want to highlight your newest episode, you'll want to use the Latest Episode Player. This enables you to copy the HTML code for a specific episode, and embed it on your site.

  • Log in to your Captivate dashboard

  • Click on Podcast Player from the menu on the left hand side of your screen

  • Click on Static Embed

  • From the Latest Episode Player box, copy the Embed on your website HTML code

  • On your website, using your platform's HTML code embed option, paste the code for your Captivate web player into the HTML box

  • Save or update your post, and then click preview to view the Latest Episode Player on your page

Show Player

If you have a page on your site that you want to showcase every episode of your podcast, you'll want to use the Show Player. This enables you to copy the HTML code for a full show player, and embed it on your site.

  • Log in to your Captivate dashboard

  • Click on Podcast Player from the menu on the left hand side of your screen

  • Click on Static Embed

  • From the Show Playlist Player box, copy the Embed on your website HTML code

  • On your website, using your platform's HTML code embed option, paste the code for your Captivate web player into the HTML box

  • Save or update your post, and then click preview to view the Show Playlist Player on your page

Playlists Player

If you're looking to create a "Best of" playlist, or a collection of your most popular episodes, or similar, you can use our awesome Playlists feature to create a curated playlist for your listeners. Once created, you'll want to use the Playlists Player. This enables you to copy the HTML code for your curated list player, and embed it on your site.

  • Log in to your Captivate dashboard

  • Click on Playlists from the menu on the left hand side of your screen

  • If you have multiple collections, select the Share icon to the right of the Playlist you want to embed

  • Copy the Embed on your website HTML code

  • On your website, using your platform's HTML code embed option, paste the code for your Captivate web player into the HTML box

  • Save or update your post, and then click preview to view the Playlist Player on your page

And that's it - you now have an embed player for pretty much any occasion for your website!
