How to Edit Old Episodes to Add HLS Video for Apple Podcasts

If your podcast has been audio-only but you now want to add video versions of episodes, it’s quick and easy to do - just follow the steps below.

Note: you need to have the Video Podcast Add-On enabled and your podcast set up for video on Apple Podcasts first - you can do that here.

log in to your Captivate dashboard
click Episodes
click the episode title you’d like to edit
toggle the Audio/Video Episode option to Video
upload your mp4 video file
choose whether to keep the existing audio file or replace with the new video audio (Apple Podcasts uses the audio from the video file - for other podcast apps, you can keep the original audio file already published, or switch to use the new video file’s audio)
click Update Episode
the video will now be transcoded - once complete, it will be sent to Apple Podcasts to update the episode to include the video
